I ordered this in an XS and didn't love it. I tried a S in the store and it had the same issue. When it's buttoned, it had a weird peplum-ish fit on me. I even had them cut the temporary stitches in the black flap to make sure that wasn't the issue. This hit me at the widest part of my hip and with that extra flare, it added 10 lbs. I probably could have had this issue altered away but this piece just wasn't nice enough to justify that.
I normally wear a size 4, but when I received this I wasn't thrilled with the fit. I tried a 6 in the store before I returned it, just to make sure it wasn't a sizing issue. Neither size really looked good because you can see those ridiculous pockets draw seriously noticeable lines half way down your thighs. It's like paying someone to give you VPL! Who is actually using these ginormous pockets in a pencil skirt anyway? It's not worth the extra $$$$ to get a seamstress to cut them out. They could easily have lined the skirt to take care of this or just not put them in to start with. Completely ruined an otherwise cute item.
I ordered three blazers online and this is the only one I kept. The fit is so flattering, I bought the blue one when I returned the rest of my order to the store. Since it's lined, it should work for 3/4 seasons (just not summer). The patterned lining is great because I have a lot of solid colored tops. It sits equally well buttoned or unbuttoned. If they made more colors, I'd buy more!
I was bummed when the size 6 sold out before I placed my order. I'm normally an XS/4 but I thought I could make a 6 work. I took a chance on 8 because it's cheap enough that I wouldn't mind paying for alterations. It actually fits really well. The waist size is perfect and sits where it's supposed to, exposing my whole back.
I'll agree with others that the fit feels a little weird up top. It does come up high into your armpits but it has to since you wouldn't want it gaping open on the sides. For total confidence, you'll want to use some fashion tape with this item though.
I find it surprising that the top isn't huge on me. I'm not even an A cup and while there is a little extra material up there, it fits well enough as is and doesn't look sloppy. With the limited support options, this dress probably isn't going to work so well for you better-endowed girls.
All in all, I'm thrilled with this. I've been trying to find an open-back dress that wasn't a mini and wouldn't set me back $100+!
The color is richer than it appears online. I was thrilled with the difference when I received this. I'm typically an XS/4. I ordered a 4 but it's going back. It technically fits but the combo of the pockets plus the slight front pleats are not flattering. They just add bulk in a spot most women don't need it. I may try one size up just to see if maybe it runs small but really this just seems cut for a teenager. You need small hips and a super flat stomach to pull this one off.
